Support Services

We provide support services to anyone who is impacted by sexual violence including support people.

People can access our services at any time throughout their healing journey. We have a holistic practice that recognizes that healing is not linear and people need different supports at different times. We use a trauma-specialized approach that recognizes you are the expert of your own experiences, and we work with you to provide the best support for you.

Services are available to individuals 12 years of age and older. Our programs are available to everyone including people of all races, abilities, ages, sexual orientations, religions, levels of education, socio-economic status, sizes, or genders. This includes friends, family and other people who would like to support a person who experienced sexual violence.

Our support and information line is available to anyone who has been affected by any form of sexual violence. We offer judgement-free, emotional and empathetic support and information. Through this line we offer crisis intervention, emotional support, collaborative problem-solving, supported decision making, education and information about the many forms of sexual violence, referrals and access to community resources.

We support anyone who is in need of support whether that be developing coping strategies, assisted grounding activities, breathing exercises, help with anxiety, feelings of loneliness, help with flashbacks and nightmares, education, support and a network of relevant referrals.

WHAT DOES 168 HOURS MEAN?

The sexual assault response team provides specialized care to individuals who have been sexually assaulted within the past 168 hours.

Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team

The Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART) provides specialized care to individuals who have been sexually assaulted within the past 7 days (168 hours).

The service is available primarily through the Sheldon M. Chumir Urgent Care Centre, where the CSART team has a specialized space. CSART services are also available through any Calgary emergency department. This service is available 24/7 to anyone 12 years of age and up who has experienced a sexual assault within 7 days (168 hours). Children under 12 are served at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Anyone experiencing sexual assault within the past 7 days (168 hours) can head straight to the specialized facilities. Contacting the CSART team is not necessary first.

Police & Court

The Police and Court Education and Support Team at CCASA supports and empowers our clients through support, advocacy, awareness and education. We advocate for our clients to promote their best interests within an often complicated and scary criminal justice system.

Our police and court team provides education and support to those who have experienced sexual violence and are navigating, or are considering navigating, the criminal justice system.

Counseling Services

All of our programs are client-focused and supportive. We work with our clients to build a deep trust that has a profound impact on their growth and resiliency.

Individual and group counselling to anyone who has experienced sexual violence and those impacted (including support persons).
